When Will Enhancements Be Released?

Filed Under (Enhancement Announcements, News & Updates) by admin on 11-03-2008

Promo Code software is and always will be in constant development mode. It’s never considered a “finished” product. We have a lot of ideas on how to make the software easier to use and perform the way YOU want it to.

The newest enhancement is on the horizon and will be released soon. We’re testing internally right now. This is what we’re planning for our users:

As you may know, with PCS you can create limited or one-time promotion codes by selecting the expiration in your admin panel. This means you can control how many times the promotion code can be used. This is great for limited time offers or limited quantities, etc…

But what about the pages you actually display? You know…the page that your visitor is directed to after they enter the correct promotion code. What if you ALSO want the page (what we call the “success URL”) to be limited to one view per visit?

Many people are familiar with “One-Time-Offers”. This is similar but this is meant for pre-purchase….not post purchase. Most OTO’s are designed to show an offer after someone purchases. It’s an upsell of sort.

Well we are developing a way to integrate this type of offer (pre-purchase) with the use of promo codes. You will have the ability to show your offers or messages “once”…

With Promo Code Software, you already have the ability to show promotion codes only once per visitor but we really don’t have any control on how your site functions after your visitor lands on the success page. You may be trying to present a One-Time-Offer. We offer one time codes…but what about the visitor who bookmarks the page after they enter the promo code? What stops them from coming back later and getting the same deal?

Nothing.

That is, of course, unless you code your page to only be displayed once per visitor.

Most of the OTO (one time offer) scripts that are available won’t allow you to accomplish this with the use of promo codes. They are designed for use after purchase. So it won’t work will with your promotion code marketing.

Well, we’ve decided to create our own system to work with promo code marketing techniques. So if you have a promo code that you want to expire after the visitor uses it…well, you will soon be able to have that page and the message expire as well.

When will we be releasing this enhancement?

As soon as we finish testing…AND…

When we have at least 10 comments. On the blog. About this post…

We are looking for your feedback. Do you like it? Is it a good idea? Do you think you would use the feature? Are we spinning our wheels? What?

Let us know how were doing. Remember, if you want the enhancement a minimum of 10 comments must be posted. Even if we have all the internal tests done and we are ready to roll it out, unless we have 10 posts…it won’t be released.

Yes it is definitely a great idea, for a number of reasons, one of which is that there are a lot of small business owners that would find this system, more useful, if they could control this type of feature, say for selling physical goods.

As an example, say Suzy dress maker, has a limited amount of product on hand and wants to move some of that product at a special price, once she gets to that number, she wants the price to no longer be available at the special discount.

Creating an option like this would be great for suzy, because once she gets the number of sales at the discounted rate, she can then display another page with either a different product or the same product at a different price point.

That is an absolutely fabulous idea. I know for a fact, I will use it.

Great idea- makes a lot of sense.

I like this idea very much. I would make good use of such a feature.

The new feature will give us a lot more power and flexibility. Thanks for the continuing development work!

Ok guys. Glad to get some feedback.

However, can I have some substance? I mean HOW is this going to impact you. Do you plan on implementing a campaign once it’s in place?

What are you doing now with the software? Do you think it’s going to improve your campaigns?

Looking for some meat in your comments. I appreciate the comments that have been expressed so far but I’m looking for specific examples of how you will implement this in the future.

This I will use definitely. Right now I’m in a development stage for the products I will be using with the Promo Code Software. Once I’m done in about a week, I plan to use Promo Code extensively.

This new enhancement will definitely increase the urgency of buying my products. Something I don’t have right now.

This should increase my sales from my opt-in lists.

But I would like a little more info. Does this mean I will be making many more static pages? Exactly what is involved for making pages that will expire?

Truth is, it is hard to comment on this until I know exactly how it works… I have several questions regarding what I’ll have to do and how easy it is to implement, just like Judith asked above…

Having said that, I’m sure it will be a nice addition, because it will definitely decrease URL passing… you know when someone finds a good OTO deal and sends it to their friends or a search engine picks up the page or somehing happens… this is a great prevention technique… For my primary business, we don’t do a lot of specials, since it is a straight forward product for US customers, specifically business owners that want benefits of real value and we have costs associated with every sale… i.e. price of providing services and payment to our agents/affiliates.

I’m as I build my infoproducts businesses and other side passive incomes this will be a handy tool though… or maybe for special offers from other businesses that are part of our network, that truly do want to limit what is sold… I can see having an expiring URL that really works and ties into PCS to be very, very valuable.

As to how I’m using it now… well, I’m still in test mode, but the ideas of the possibilities are quite endless at this time…. as a professional marketer, my imagination is running wild!!

This is a useful feature. You could offer say a 30% discount with a coupon. Once that coupon is clicked, visitor is taken to the OTO at 30% with the notice that this is a one time offer. If they leave, they no longer get the 30%. If they leave that page, the next page could be 15% for example, then the final page in the sequence could be the regular price. Maybe the visitor will by then understand, you are serious about what you say.

Also there would need to be coding to keep them from bookmarking the page or pages. Similar to how the $7 script set works.

    Hey Tim….

That’s not really what this “One-Time-Display” feature is going to be about. The system that powers PCS already does this. If you recall, I’m accepting 300 Charter Members (you’re one of them) the system counts down and shows the remaining mememberships…

The system I use is RAP. Check it out here. I highly recommend it in conjunction with my software.

So the promo code does it’s job by directing your customer to the right page with the discount. Now the delivery system (RAP) can take care of the rest.

What I’m trying to implement for you is the ability to show your special offer only ONE time per visitor if you choose this option when you are setting up your code.

I’m developing it so it’s just as simple as your cut & paste method with the promo codes themselves.

Others have mentioned that they are curious as to how to implement it….

    Well……

That’s what I’m formulating. An easy cut an paste little piece of code that you simply add to your website. That’s it.
I’m getting close with this so it is just around the corner.

Thank you everyone for your comments. Remember, once the enhancement is released…I’ll need your feedback. Also, be sure to frequent the forum. This is where we can discuss in detail how we want these enhancements to work. Remember, this is YOUR software. I’m just developing it for you.

Yes, That is a great idea. Here is an option you can ad to that idea; Allow the code to have a fixed user name and interpret the code as a password for the site’s ftp authorization access control system.

I use this software to control who gets FREE MP3s. How cool is that?
